Dundee Thistle vs St Andrews Colts
This week The Under 9’s team travelled to Claypotts in Dundee to play against Dundee Thistle
The first team, played outstandingly with a few attempts at goal but unfortunately couldn’t beat Thistles goalkeeper. There was a great improvement by all the team with their positions and working as a team.
The second team also got beat but, too had some outstanding performances, in the second half Gunn went in goal and Langlands joined his fellow team mate outfield for the first time and gave a really good performance. Then in the final minute a cracking goal was scored by Easson.
Both teams didn’t give up and the boys should be really proud of their performances at Dundee. This week saw the boys try out new positional strategies which were discussed and practiced in training. These were carried into the match and worked well, both were beaten although the first team did have a close game.

The 2nd team also gave 100% and again showed improvement. They were well beaten but it was a good team performance, Jake Langlands had another good game in goal.
Celtic Boys v St Andrews Colts Under 9’s
On a sunny Easter Sunday (20th April 14), we all travelled to Lochee Park in Dundee.
Yet again all the players showed a massive improvement this week.
The first team won 3-1 with 2 goals from C.Watt (2) and 1 from R.Cunnigham. They all continued to give 100% and are taking onboard what we do in training and applying it in a game situation.
Our second team showed that they are listening to instruction and are working great as a team, with Langlands having some saves. Unfortunately they didn’t win the match but gave a great performance.
Both teams showing their understanding of positions is also coming along but the effort they put in is what we am most impressed with.
The coaching staff are really proud of the squad. After the match, all the players were given an Easter Egg, which they were delighted with.

St.Andrews Colts v Arbroath Lads
This was our first home game, we received our new strips and training jackets then had a photo shoot with our sponsors R.B.Grant.
The first team were up against a big, strong and good team, this was our biggest test to date but they kept their shape and put in a huge effort.
Even though they were up against it and had a lot of injuries during game the kids still had a good time and enjoyed the challenge.
We played some really good football and scored a cracking team goal.
The second team also had to deal with the size difference but gave everything and played well.
We had to change a few things around this week due to injuries and illness but the team still showed an improvement.
Again the effort levels from the whole squad was really impressive.

Their understanding of positions is also coming along but the effort they put in is what i am most impressed with.

The second game was good too, they are learning and will really improve over the next few weeks.
